Silvio Rodriguez and his band played to a nearly filled house at the beautiful Paramount Theater in downtown Oakland on Saturday June 12. As has been the case in all of his stops on his current US tour he dedicated a song to the Cuban 5 who are heroes in his country.
The crowd was exuberant throughout the concert that included 7 curtain calls. At the beginning of almost every song, after a few notes had been played, the audience would roar with approval in recognition of another song from Silvio's vast body of work.
At the concert was present Gayle McLaughlin, mayor of the city of Richmond.
