Istanbul, Turkey, Jun 29.- Everything is ready for the start of the Sixth European Social Forum on July 1st during which the situation of The Five anti-terrorist Cuban fighters held in US prisons will be denounced.
Under the slogan "Another Europe is needed. It is up to Them to Pay for Their Crisis," nearly 80 popular organizations in Turkey are giving final touches to this new ESF expected to be focused on alternatives to the global economic crisis from an anti-capitalist prospect.
The four-day encounter will also be a bright opportunity for global struggles of solidarity by those who fight for a fairer world, including a seminar on the world campaign for the release of The Five anti-terrorist Cuban fighters in US prisons, scheduled to be held during the opening session at the Istanbul Technical University.
It will be presented by the official in charge of the Jose Marti Association of Friendship with Cuba and representatives of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples and the Free The Five Committee of Turkey.
Thousands of people are expected to take part in over 200 seminars, workshops, lectures and round tables prepared by social organizations from around the world.
The ESF is an open, participative space in which groups and movements opposed to neoliberalism and any other kind of imperialism exchange experiences and discuss proposals aimed at the human beings.
These meetings are held every two years. The previous such gathering was held in Malmo, Sweeden, in 2008.(Prensa Latina)
