Alarcón: Everybody knows that this is essentially a political case
During a launch of an exhibition dedicated to the Five, Bernie Dwyer, Radio Havana Cuba, took the opportunity of asking Ricardo Alarcón what he felt 2005 has in store for Gerardo, Ramón, Antonio, Fernando and René, whose case is under appeal before the 11th Atlanta Circuit Court of Appeal. Alarcón compared this case with a spy case that is featured in 7th Jan. issue of the New York Times.
The Cuban Five on the Fox News Channel
On Saturday 21, the Fox News Channel presented in its program Big Story Weekend with Rita Cosby, a feature about the Cuban Five.

The critical point in the story was: Were they a threat to America or trying to protect their homeland?

"Rita Cosby: ...Are the five in your opinion victims of politics and why?

Paul McKenna, criminal defense attorney: Yes, absolutely... These men didn't do anything that harmed our national security... There were no breaches of national security, nor was there ever an intent to do any harm to the United States. They came here basically on a mission to infiltrate various exile groups that were posing a threat to Cuba during a period where there was a wave of bombings of hotels and tourist attractions in Cuba by exile groups."
