Join the New America Foundation/American Strategy Program on January 24 for a presentation by Leonard Weinglass, defense attorney for Gerardo Hernández, Antonio Guerrero, Ramón Labañino, Fernando González, and René González, also known as the Cuban Five. The New America Foundation, launched in 1999, is a nonprofit, post-partisan, public policy institute that was established through the collaborative work of a diverse and intergenerational group of public intellectuals, civic leaders and business executives.
Leonard Weinglass, the Miami Five's Lead Attorney, Tours UK

During a highly successful 10-day UK tour the inspirational civil rights activist and veteran campaigner has sought to build international support for the Cuban Five in order to pressure the United States’ authorities to free them. The message Leonard Weinglass has pounded out at meetings across England and Ireland is: “To secure the Miami Five’s freedom we need to embarrass the United States authorities into making the right decision.” “They [Cuban Five] live in the most difficult conditions you could imagine, but when you meet with them you see men who are strong, energised and principled. When you leave them you come away with the feeling ‘I can do no less’.”

Pertierra: A story that cries out to be told
Imagen - Antiterroristas.cu
"The story of CU-455 cries out to be told to the American people. If the American people hear the true story of how those 73 people were murdered in cold blood by terrorists whom the United States prefers to shelter rather than prosecute, they'll not stand for it. Americans still don´t know who the Five are or why they went to Miami. It's important that you continue to make sure that their story is told: that the U.S. prosecutes and condemns anti-terrorists, yet shelters and protects terrorists." Lawyer Jose Pertierra at the National Network on Cuba, Washington DC, April 8
ZNet: Detroit Says Free the Cuban Five

Five men whose convictions have been overturned by a federal court remain imprisoned, internationally renowned human rights lawyer Leonard Weinglass told a public forum this weekend in Detroit. The conditions of the arrest and imprisonment of the five men were so egregious, says the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Arrest and Detention that they "violate international norms of lawful detention." This is a case of injustice to be found right here in the US.
